Biography
Dr. Ludwig has successfully led multidisciplinary teams of more than 4,000 professionals across small molecule, biologics, and vaccine portfolios, achieving transformative outcomes, including the expedited EUA approvals of Comirnaty and Paxlovid and over two dozen major market product approvals within two years. His unwavering commitment to the highest standards of quality and compliance has been pivotal to sustained success in innovative pharmaceuticals.
Most recently, Dr. Ludwig served as Senior Vice President of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Global Clinical Supply at Pfizer R&D (2023–2025), following roles as SVP of Medicinal Sciences (2017–2023) and SVP of BioTherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences (2012–2017). He has held leadership positions at Pfizer, Pharmacia, Searle, and Burroughs Wellcome Co., specializing in dosage form design and analytical development.
Dr. Ludwig co-edited Parenteral Medications (2019) and Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms: Parenteral Medications (2010). He received the James P. Agalloco Award for Excellence in Education (2017) and the Best Original Research Paper Award (1988) from the Parenteral Drug Association.
