Operating Companies are mobilizing local response teams to implement global guidance. Beckman Coulter is developing assays to identify IgM and IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. The purpose of the Beckman Coulter IgM and IgG serology assays is to determine if a patient has developed an immune reaction to the SARS-COV-2 virus. Antibody assays play a critical role in understanding the measure of immunity an individual has developed against SARS-CoV-2. This type of understanding could help determine the identification of those who would require a vaccine once available or when an infected individual could safely return to work.

Cepheid’s Xpert® Xpress SARS-CoV-2, a rapid molecular diagnostic test for qualitative detection of the virus causing COVID-19, received Emergency Use Authorization from the US FDA. The test is the first rapid point-of-care solution to get this approval and is designed to operate on any of Cepheid's more than 23,000 automated GeneXpert® Systems worldwide, with a detection time of approximately 45 minutes.

IDT was the first company in the US to have their primer and probe kits approved by the CDC for use as a key component of the CDC EUA testing protocol for the diagnosis and detection of COVID-19. As of April 14, 2020, IDT has produced primer and probe kits sufficient to enable 30 million tests to be conducted in the US pursuant to the CDC EUA testing protocol.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Leica Biosystems received notification from the US FDA that its Aperio ImageScope DX Viewer with images acquired on the Aperio AT2 DX Scanner can be used for remote diagnosis under emergency use. This will allow pathologists, who typically work in hospitals, to safely view and diagnose pathology cases from remote locations.

As part of a consortium led by The University of Oxford, Pall is leading manufacturing scale-up of ChAdOx1, which has been fast tracked as a leading candidate for COVID-19 globally.
