Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Cyberex for Technology Leadership

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2004--Frost & Sullivan named Cyberex as the recipient of the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Leadership in the low-voltage digital static transfer switch (DSTS) market at last night's Excellence in Industrial Technology Awards Banquet.

The award recognizes excellence in all stages of the technology life cycle including incubation, adaptation, take-up and maturity, ensuring a continuous flow of technology improvements. It also commends Cyberex for its development of the patented SuperSwitch technology that is used for sensing incoming power sources and performing high speed less than 4msec power transfers between redundant utility lines.

Cyberex is a part of Danaher Power Solutions, which offers a variety of power quality solutions including industrial UPS, power distribution modules and TVSS, as well as the SuperSwitch DSTS. Danaher Power Solutions specializes in the combination of these products into a total customized solution for a mission critical site application.

Since its inception, Cyberex has maintained its technological leadership position including the world's first commercially available pulse width modulated (PWM) UPS (1968); the world's first stand-alone static transfer switch (1971); the world's first fully digital static transfer switch incorporating patented technology (1994); and the world's first fully digital three- and single-phase UPS systems (1994).

"Cyberex has to its credit a number of high-performance, integrated and customized power solutions that satisfies the stringent requirements of the financial sector, telecommunication carriers, data processing centers, utility companies and the petroleum/petrochemicals industry," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Vishal Sapru.

By continuously incorporating new technologies into its products, Cyberex has managed to stay ahead of its competitors. The SuperSwitch 2, the second generation of DSTS was released in 2001 and enhanced the original design by adding redundant bus architecture, fast source re-acquisition and enhanced internal diagnostics.

This month, Cyberex has released the third generation of SuperSwitch. The SuperSwitch3 further improves the digital static transfer switch by adding triple redundant bus architecture, a 2500 diagnostics event log, enhanced user interface, extended remote communications and guided breaker operation. The SuperSwitch3 has a reduced footprint to conserve valuable data room real estate and a reduced parts count. The mean time between downing events (MTBDE) of the SuperSwitch3 is estimated to be three times that of the previous SuperSwitch, which has an actual field performance of in excess of 3.5 million hrs MTBDE. The newer features help maximize system and load reliability at mission-critical operations.

Outstanding customer service and cost-effective customization has also played an integral role in the success of the company.

"Cyberex allows its customers to customize the technology and features to suit their specific applications insuring the SuperSwitch is matched perfectly," says Sapru.

Frost & Sullivan views these accomplishments as hallmarks of a company with a clear vision and ability to execute its plan. Customer relationship management along with research and development for newer products and technology has helped Cyberex in maintaining its leadership, while its innovative marketing and product development strategies has helped it to face the challenges of the declining economy.

Held in Miami, the Frost & Sullivan banquet honored world-class companies for outstanding performance and achievements in industrial technologies. An annual event, the banquet recognized the quality and merit of distinguished individuals and companies.
