Kollmorgen Electro-Optical Awarded $5M Contract for MK20 EOSS
Kollmorgen Electro-Optical Corporation of Northampton, MA was awarded a $5,220,108 firm-fixed-price contract for four MK 20 Electro-Optical Sensor Systems (EOSS). The MK 20 EOSS provides day & night vision capabilities to support the modernization of the U.S. Navy's Ticonderoga class cruisers. Its design builds on the proven MK 46 Optical Sensor System (OSS) and provides enhanced eye-safe laser range-finding capabilities, digital stabilization, as well as added features to interface with the latest gun weapon system technology.
Work will be performed in Northampton, MA and Brattleboro, VT with an expected completion in August 2008. The contract was awarded by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.
This contract award extends Kollmorgen's relationship with the U.S. Navy as the premier supplier of optical sighting systems for the Navy's surface fleet. Kollmorgen has been the primary designer of all submarine periscopes used in the U.S. Navy since 1916.
