Mike, Class of 1992

Mike Graduated from GMI Engineering & Management Institute (Kettering University). He worked in sales and marketing for the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors. Graduated from Harvard Business School and then worked for the Boston Consulting Group doing strategy consulting for 3.5 years.

Started with Danaher as a Materials Manager at Danaher Controls in 1998. Then took over the Plant Manager position with responsibility for Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials. Following these two manufacturing positions, Mike was promoted to Director of Marketing and then VP/GM of Danaher's Encoder Business Unit. He then changed platforms and moved to Danaher Motion as GM, Servo & Stepper Drives, which involved moving to Düsseldorf, Germany. His assignment in Europe (3 years), culminated in the position of President, Danaher Motion Europe. Mike returned to the US as President of Thomson, the mechanical group in Danaher Motion, and then took on the assignment of SVP, Global Sales and Marketing for the Danaher Motion Group. His current position is President of Hennessy Industries.

Danaher provides a great combination of the two things I was looking for in life after consulting. First, an entrepreneurial culture that provides general management responsibility quickly; second, a strong management system with a proven track record. These two ideas may seem contradictory, but I see them as supporting one another. The Danaher Business System provides a solid foundation for managing a business for maximum value generation, while the entrepreneurial atmosphere allows maximum flexibility in growing your business. Compared to the many companies that I experienced through consulting, Danaher provides strong associates with as much responsibility as they can handle as early as possible.
