Before Darden, I had a mechanical engineering and international trade degree from Shanghai University. I spent 8 years in a US manufacturing firm at China with a variety of roles from sales to marketing to business development.

My plan for an MBA was to arm myself with systematic business knowledge, to expand my horizon, and to help me prepare to run a company in the future. I did my summer intern at Gems Sensors to develop market penetration strategy in China and really enjoyed the experience. After graduation, I joined VideoJet as a product manager. My primary responsibility at this role is to manage and grow a line of business globally. Specifically, I develop and execute product strategy plan, manage multi-functional team, and to develop new products.

My experience working at Danaher has been extremely challenging and rewarding. As a new MBA graduate, I am given tremendous responsibility to grow a new segment focus for the company. DBS training provides me necessary tools and resources to meet my objective. What I have been impressed by Danaher most are the dedication demonstrated by its associates toward continuous improvement. KPI, Counter Measure, and Root Cause are daily language associates used here.

My counsel to MBA student is to really understand what you are passionate about, and what you want to do years later. Next step is to understand which skills you need to help you bridge the gap. If you are seeking career path in general management, find a program with focus in operation, marketing, and business development.
