Doug, Class of 2004
I received my BA degree from Dartmouth in 1997 followed by a BE in Electrical Engineering in 1998, and was a management consultant for Bain & Co. and a private equity associate with Bain Capital.
I wanted to gain experience in operations and line management. My position as Team Leader in the socket factory for the Danaher Tool Group is giving me this experience.
Working at Danaher provides the career opportunities I was looking for as an aspiring general manager. The Company intentionally sets stretch goals and then challenges you to meet them. I’ve found that accepting these challenges provides the greatest professional development. Further, the company worked with me to determine what skills I need to develop and then tailored a rotation to address those needs. Given the rate of continued growth of the organization, MBA hires are limited only by their own ambitions. This boundless learning environment is precisely the reason why I joined the Danaher team.
Even though business school is likely the last school you’ll attend, the learning in your career never ends. First discover what type of career most excites you and then find the employer where you can learn the most. The continuous improvement preached at Danaher applies to each individual as well as the business as a whole.
