Kevin, Class of 2002
Dynamic. Results-oriented. Data-driven. Focused. These are words that describe Danaher Associates and the environment in which we work. Ours is a culture committed to continuous improvement and measuring the results of our work. The commitment to the Danaher Business System starts with our CEO and goes right through employees at every level of the organization. Associates participating in Kaizen events strive for breakthrough results and regularly achieve them. From one facility to another, it may be hard to recognize a Danaher operation on the surface. But talk to the people, walk the shop floors, and ask a few questions - and it becomes clear that as one enterprise we are committed to a common set of values, goals, and the achievement of results that will continue to set Danaher and our Associates apart from other companies.
Since joining Danaher in 2002, I've had several roles that have spanned different functions, facilities and product categories. Currently, I am the President of Portescap, a company within our Motion platform. My primary challenge is to lead a talented team to find ways to accelerate the growth in our target market segments and applications. This business has factories in Pennsylvania (US), Mumbai (India) and Kluang (Malaysia), with Engineering located in the US, Europe and Asia. The challenges I face on a daily basis range from making tactical resource allocation decisions to directing teams working on global product development projects to acquiring new talent required to enable us to deliver on our strategic priorities. My objectives include delivering world-class quality products to our customers on time while ensuring our associates have a safe environment in which to work, in order to deliver on the financial commitments my team and I have made to the corporation. In addition, I'm working to strengthen the talent within my organization and improve the long term product pipeline within key product categories & geographies. This is an exciting role in an exciting business - I'm fortunate to be surrounded by a great group.
Prior to this role, I was a General Manager, Operations and Product Line Manager for other motor product lines within Kollmorgen. The dual challenge of having the commercial responsibility to set price and manage the product lifecycle while also having Operations responsibility to deliver on my commercial commitments was exciting. When I joined Danaher, my initial challenges were within Marketing, and included market research, strategy development and gathering the voice of the customer from existing and prospective customers. I also took on additional responsibility as a Customer Service Manager for a year while we consolidated multiple teams from different factories into one, and put some process improvements in place before hiring an experienced Customer Support professional to manage that team.
Prior to Darden, I attended the University of Notre Dame where I earned a BA degree in Government / Public Policy. After college, I worked in Sales & Marketing for a 40-person hardware and software developer of automation solutions for electric utilities.
Culture and fit within an organization may be the most important criteria students have to consider when evaluating companies. Find a company that will reward your passion and provide you with more opportunities to learn and grow than you thought possible. I have found that during my time here at Danaher.
