Dominic, Class of 2003

I graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree from Montana State in 1994, and worked for seven years at Cargill as a project and engineering manager. Most of my Cargill experience was in joint venture businesses with international partners. When I went to Kellogg, I majored in Marketing and Finance.

I accepted my job at Danaher because of the culture. Danaher is a hard-driving company that gives employees the tools they need to succeed. Danaher also worked very hard to find the right fit for me within their businesses. Since I had significant experience with Fluke products prior to joining Danaher (Fluke is a division of Danaher), it was a logical place for me to begin my Danaher career.

Since joining Danaher in July, my experience has been tremendous. In addition to my activities developing new products as a Marketing Manager for one of Fluke's most important product lines, I have also been pulled into in some potential M&A activities. I've been working with other Marketing Mangers to develop new advertising copy, manage customer research, develop new marketing plans, and evaluate our product portfolio for its strengths and weaknesses. The team I work with is extremely talented from top to bottom and the work environment is very collaborative. Danaher has delivered everything they promised in the recruiting process.

During your two years in business school, work as hard as you can to find an employer who's culture fits your personality. When I made the decision not to accept a full-time offer from my summer employer, it was primarily based on a mismatch between my personality and that internal organizational culture. What I've found in Danaher is that I can pour myself into the work and believe in it. If you focus on fit and not strictly on compensation or other issues, you are much more likely to have a long, enjoyable, and successful career.
